What Fashion Means To Me

Why It’s More Than Just The Clothes

I’ve loved fashion for as long as I can remember. I can recall going into my mother’s closet or trying on all of my grandmothers’ costume jewelry. Rest assured, Pretty Pretty Princess was a household staple around age 5. Throughout the years my personal style and interest in the industry has definitely evolved. I find myself walking through stores and secretly switching up displays if I  don’t think the outfit works. I’ve experimented with different cuts, shapes and popular trends. But the most important thing I’ve come to realize about fashion is that it’s not just about the clothes, it’s how you wear them.
Personal style is all about letting your personality shine through what you’re wearing. It’s necessary to have your own style outside of what is “trendy” at the time. The way you dress is the truest form of self-expression. I know it sounds cheesy, but think of yourself as an artist and your body is your canvas. Experiment with new brands, incorporate vintage, try crazy prints and dress how you feel! Fashion is truly an art form and designers are artists. I mean have you seen some of the designs at  Haute Couture Fashion Week? INCREDIBLE!

Fashion is something I’m passionate about, not because I am a materialist, but because I am an optimist. I love the way the way a great outfit makes me feel. Everyone’s body is different and discovering clothes that work for you and that make you look amazing, is the ultimate confidence boost. One reason I want to pursue a career in fashion is because I want to help people feel beautiful in their own skin, even with something as simple as a great outfit. When you feel amazing, you’ll look amazing.

The fashion industry is appealing to me because of it’s fast paced and ever changing lifestyle. The opportunities are endless, but you have to put in the work.  I’m excited for this new journey and to see what the future has in store for me in this field.

If you have something that you feel comfortable in but it may be out of style– keep it because trends come back-and if you feel good in it chances are you look good too!!
