Playing with Color in the Outer Banks

Last week I was on vacation in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. We stayed in Corolla steps away from the beach, and it was absolutely beautiful! There is tons to do in the Outer Banks from beaches and bike riding to shopping and dining. I even tried one of their famous specialties, oysters! I would definitely recommend the Outer Banks for all you travelers looking for a great new vacation spot!

My wardrobe mainly consists of earth tones/neutrals and I usually shy away from most bright colors. Before I left, I was on the hunt to brighten up my vacation wear and this yellow kimono wrap from Charming Charlie caught my eye. I loved the watercolor botanical flower print and thought it would look really good with a tan. My mom and I ran in the store quickly to pick up some gold rings. When I left the store I instantly regretted not buying it and went back and got it the next day          (plus a pair of shoes).

These American Eagle shorts were already in my closet after my trip to LA in May. Sometimes it’s hard for me to find shorts that fit because I have wider hips. These shorts in the Hi-Rise Festival Shortie style have a great fit over my hips and waist and make my legs look super long              (which is a perk for me because I’m only 5’4).

Some people may think heart shaped sunglasses are cheesy but I fell in love with this pair from Betsey Johnson.  Sunglasses are my favorite accessory and I love the big mirrored lens in these gold frames. Plus it was hard to turn these glasses down when I  found them for a steal at TJ Maxx for $9.99

If you look closely at the purple band on my wrist you will see the phrase “Stop & Think”.  This band is an item in my friend’s product line for his lifestyle brand hTrae One World. hTrae is an acronym for “Happy Thoughts Really Are Everything”. hTrae sets initiatives to promote positivity among people on a world wide scale by highlighting self-esteem, as well as love and acceptance of others. I wanted to continue to wear my hTrae band to vacation as a reminder to take time to appreciate my surroundings and experience.

See how I styled this pop of color in the photos below!
